In the Napoleonic wars on Ancient Terra, as long lost historical archives describe, during the pre-machine gun era, Cavalry reigned supreme on the battlefields. Against infantry who could not form square in time, they would slaughter and massacre. Hereforth is a description of the Heavy Cavalry: "They were big men on big horses, uniforms gleaming in the sun and pelisses flapping. They carried the straight-bladed Heavy Cavalry sword, a monster of a weapon, a butcher's blade, heavy, efficient, used for powerful downward cutting strokes that could split heads and sever limbs with little effort. They were terrifying on the charge, the bane of all men on foot. In defence they were mediocre, but heaven help the man who has to face down a Dragoon charge." In the battlefields of the 41st millenium, flesh and blood have been replaced by steel and grease, and the Ravenwing are the Cavalry of the age. To which a representation of these mighty warriors is called for: thus born the Ravenwing Dragoons.

Order of Battle: Heavy Support Choice Squad: The RW Drgoons squad consists of between 5 and 10 models. Weapons: Twin-linked bolters, Heavy Cavalry sword. Options: One biker may be upgraded to a Veteran Sargeant for 15pts. The Veteran Sargeant may be given additional equipment from the Ravenwing armoury. Ferocious Charge: When charging, Ravenwing Dragoons strike with +1 initiative and the enemy has to take an automatic morale check with a -1 modifier. On the turn of the charge, Ravenwing Dragoons can not voluntarily fallback. This means they cannot voluntarily fall back until the player's turn again. Butcher's Blade: The heavy cavalry sword is clumsy but devastating weapon. The blade is heavy and hard to use, but when striking it can split even the toughest armour. Therefore it strikes with a -1 initiative and +1 Strength. In addition, it reduces any armour save below 4+ to 4+. Ravenwing: See rules at the Special Rules section of the Codex: Unforgiven.
