Tyran This was a small Adeptus Mechanicus way-station for exploratory expeditions in to the edge of the galaxy. It was well protected by orbital and ground based defences on account of its distance from Terra about 60,000 light years away, as well as sporting an astropath. First indications of unusual activity was noted when planets along the fringe, previously catalogued as "Life-sustaining" were found to be airless barren rocks. As the number of such reports increased Inquisitor Kryptmann commenced his investigation and then journeyed to Tyran in 745.M41. However, prior to his arrival, Tyran was assaulted by a new species, henceforth known as the Tyranid Race. Tyran wa overrun but Magos Varnak sealed a recording of every possible minute of the assault in a 3000 meter shaft before overloading the reactor at the base and wiping himself and a huge number of Tyranids. By the time Inquisitor Kryptmann arrived there was nothing left but the bedrock of the planet. The Varnak's foresight provided the inquisitor with vital information and he left tyran to warn the imperium of the new menace: HIVE FLEET BEHEMOTH had arrived. (Codex Tyranids; 2nd Ed, Page 5) |
