Commander of the Watch Aradiel Command Title: Grandmaster of the Tower Honorific Title: Keeper of the Fortress Overview This is the home guard of the dark Angels. Tasked with the defense of their fortress monastery, it is a small command in its own right but with the ability to requisition vast amounts of resources as the need arises. Complement Grandmaster of the Tower Aradiel, Keeper of the Fortress Servitor-guardians 232 Psyber-patrol robots 432 Only an accomplished and extremely experienced grandmaster is given command of this little known command. Its main function is the defense and safety of the fortress monastery, the Tower of Angels. The grandmaster coordinates the defenses against threats from within and without, from his specially isolated command center. This is separated completely from the chapter headquarters for tactical reasons and Aradiel answers only to the supreme grandmaster Azrael. A single company is given the honour of providing the majority of the defense forces to the Fortress for one hundred years. The company so honoured provides the headquarters staff for the grandmaster of the tower and at least half the company's personnel, while specific other units from the other companies may be requisitioned as required. At any onetime the total assets assigned for the defense remains at a company's strength at the minimum. The commander closely coordinates his activity with the commander of the battle fleet to maximize the effectiveness of the patrol activity. A vast number of automated sentries, servitor guardians and psyber-patrol robots provide constant vigil within the miles of corridors and dungeons within the fortress. Automated defense turrets stud the outer surface of the fortress monastery along with manned long range anti ship weapons and close in anti-ordnance weapons. Duties Internal Security Constant vigilance within every corridor, doorway and dungeon is maintained by automated monitors linked to the servitors and robots. The resident defense troops also perform constant patrols and perform defense exercises. External Defenses The main purpose is the detection and elimination of external threats to the fortress monastery. Complementing this effort are the ships of the Battle Fleet Mortis Angelus. |
